Favourite line:
"You hung me out of a plane. You can tell a lot about a persons character by how they treat people they don't have to treat well."

After the absolute abomination that was M:I 2, this could only be a disaster, right?
Wrong.
By sticking J.J. Abrams at the helm, a master-stroke was achieved as his experience in the same genre on the TV show Alias shines through in virtually every frame.

The plot:
Ethan Hunt is back, this time tracking down a device called 'The Rabbit's Foot' in time to save his newlywed from being put to death at the hands of Hoffman's wonderfully sinister and totally ruthless arms dealer Davian.

That's all you need to know about the storyline because, as is usual with these movies, the plot is merely an excuse to drape a series of spectacular set-pieces around and here, boy are the set-pieces good. From infiltrating The Vatican to base jumping off a Shanghai skyscraper, the action pulls no punches, placing the viewer right in the heart of the action. Whilst the stunts seemed pompous and unnecessary in part 2, here they are crafted to near perfection.
It's more cohesive than the first movie as well and, save for the odd mawkish moment of sentimentality revolving around 'The Missus' this would have got top marks.
A real return to form for the franchise.
