From the minds of half of the writing team behind The League of Gentlemen (Reece Shearsmith and Steve Pemberton) comes this slice of retro weirdness.
Several different characters live out their rather extraordinary lives, each tormented by something that happened in their past, something which will draw them back together to vanquish those old torments.
Feeling simultaneously quaint and old fashioned as well as twisted and sinister, this plays out as a traditional whodunnit in parts, the narrative interweaving the lives of said characters, each playing out their own portion of the tale in isolation to the other. Shearsmith and Pemberton weave a rich tapestry, each character fleshed out sufficiently to enable you to be truly appalled by their actions, the demented performances of the lead characters a genuine delight.
Whilst not quite as dark as League, this is still macabre enough to satisfy all but the most blood thirsty.
Off beat and irreverent, this will only improve with age.
