Favourite line:"You punch like you take it up the ass."

Oft cited as De Niro and Scorcese's finest joint work this movie, though not my personal favourite of their's (Goodfella's holds that honour) this is still breath taking.
Provocative, brutal and shocking, this follows the life of a man who should have it all, but whose own paranoia and rage drive away all those that care for him.
Jake La Motta, The Raging Bull, a boxer whose power and viciousness were notorious during his triumphant reign during the 40's, is played with unerring conviction by De Niro in a tour de force performance. Famously, he put on several stones of weight for this movie by eating huge amounts of pasta.
Scorcese's direction is nothing short of stunning (see the spinning shots when in the boxing ring), and the fight choreography superb, though this is far less about the battles within the ring than those outside it.
Challenging, intelligent and at times harrowingly disturbing, Rocky it ain't.
