Favourite line:"To beat this guy, you need speed. You don't have it. And you've got calcium deposits on most of your joints, so sparring is out."

Sly returns to his roots here, bringing us a new Rocky movie after a seventeen year hiatus. But was it worth the wait?
Well, yes and no.

The usual formula is played out for a sixth time, as Rocky finds himself reasonably content with a life running a restaurant, telling tall tales about his days as a boxer to the clientele and still, bewilderingly, putting up with Paulie's shit.
Seriously, that moaning fuck should have been given his marching orders years ago.
Well, Adrian is dead, as is Rocky's old trainer leading to a great deal of sentimentalising about the downward spiral of life and Paulie and Rocky confiding in each other as only they can - by shouting and bawling at one another, trying to out do one another in the grief stakes.
Meanwhile, a new technique emerges that allows a computer simulation to predict who would win a bout between Balboa and new kid on the block, undisputed champion of the world, Mason 'The Line' Dixon and, according to the simulation, Rocky would triumph if at the peak of his powers.
It's not long before the fight is arranged, an exhibition contest in name alone, with both men out to prove something.
Cue montage training sequence and bruising heavyweight showdown.

A necessary addition to the Rocky series?
Well yes, only in so much as it always left a sour taste that the appalling number 5 was such a poor finish to the franchise.
Enjoyed it.
Really hope they don't make another one.
