The third Star Trek spin off, and the one I felt would be a spin off too far.
Indeed, series one is fairly poor, with the characters struggling to find their feet and the storylines generally muddled and weak. Then series two kicks in and, half way through, all that changes - action packed, inventive, and blending the luvvie-luvvie world of 'TNG' with the conflicts on board 'DS9' excellently, to give the show a real edge.
This incarnation of Trek took a little longer to win me over than the others, but now I consider it a more than worthy addition to the Star Trek legacy.
Admittedly, only Trekkies will be into this, but that's life I guess.
A good show.
