Luc Besson penned Euro action daftness.

Jason 'Ard as nails' Statham plays Frank Martin, a Transporter, an individual who is hired to move packages from one location to another, no questions asked. All he needs to know: the precise measurements of the package, and the start and end location.
Hired by a mysterious individual known only as Wall Street, Martin breaks his fundamental rule - never look in the package - and discovers that he is carrying a young woman, alive. And that's just the beginning of the complications.

Action packed from beginning to end, this straddles the line between parody and playing it straight.
Coming off as something of a cross between an above average Van Damme movie and a Bond film, this packs a real punch in terms of the stunt work, particularly the car chases, but lacks any real substance in terms of plotting or acting.
The Euro feel adds a sense of the quirky, which sits awkwardly to begin with but soon feels appropriate.
All in all, an entertaining actioner, which is certainly flawed, but nowhere near as woeful as it could have been.
Having spawned two sequels to date, it seems I'm not the only one who enjoyed it, and I'll certainly be checking those out too.
Liked it.
