Favourite line:"Look at them. They're just asking for it. Maybe the human race deserves to be wiped out."

Terry Gilliams visually mesmeric, dystopian time travel thriller is, in truth, utterly baffling on first viewing.
The plot is complex, involving multiple characters in multiple time zones, but each scene is related to events taking place in different points in time.
The acting is superb, and this is nothing less than fascinating, though you may find you develop a headache if you think too hard about what is actually going on.

Bruce Willis is a prisoner in 2035, and is persuaded to travel back to 1996 to find out as much as he can about a virus that struck the world, wiping out 99% of the population. Unfortunately, he is sent back to 1990 by mistake, where he is considered to be a raving lunatic, and is locked up in an institution.

Beguiling, intelligent, and at times impregnable, this is hardcore sci-fi, Hollywood style.
