Favourite line:"I'm really thirsty. When I was a kid I used to dehydrate, and my piss came out like snot. I mean, it was all thick and gross."

Brilliantly inventive crime thriller that plays with the genre, and adds a highly unusual, though very effective supernatural element to proceedings.

Five criminals are deliberately gathered to pull off a security vehicle heist, the person who hired them manipulating them by way of blackmail to ensure their co-operation. He knows everything about their lives, and employs the wonderful Pete Postlethwaite as his public face.
As the police close in, and the truth is slowly revealed, it becomes clear that the man in charge is in fact a figure from folklore, a man whose legend is one used to scare young children into behaving themselves.

This is Kevin Spacey's break through role as 'Verbal', effectively the narrator of the piece, and he is just superb.
Enthralling and intelligent, the ending will have you scratching your head for days afterwards.
Simply excellent.
