Yep, the old law of diminishing returns applies here, as the ratings for the first and second movie will attest to.
So, what's going on this time?
Well, more of the same is the only possible retort. Another hapless buffoon repeats the name Candyman into a mirror five times - this time Candyman's very own great great granddaughter - and has to face the consequences, said consequences being the slaughter and disembowlment of all those she holds dear, and the whole time the Candyman implores her to 'Be My Victim'
. All the great lines from the first movie are used to death here, ("Be my victim", "What's blood for if not for shedding?" etc) and there's a general sense of been there, done that, bought the hook attachment.
Tony Todd is suitably menacing, as ever, and the rest of the cast functional.
The lead actress is one of those artificial Californian types who looks barely human, more like an Airfix interpretation of a woman than a real lifeform, and the plot is essentially a repeat of the first two movies, with some slight fleshing out of the Candyman's backstory, but I do mean slight.
Also, you know a franchise is starting to go down hill when the tit count starts to go up...
Not terrible, but not much of an addition to the series either.
Hope it's the last.
