Busta Rhymes (yes, you read that right) plays Freddie Harris, a shady businessman type who decides to exploit the legend of Michael Myers by offering tours of the home the infamous killer grew up in and, ultimately, committed his first murder in way back in the original movie.
It seems like quite a good idea at first, and garners genuine interest, and Harris has a few surprises along the way too, to add to the legend, with spooky additions to the house itself to frighten any brave enough to explore: for an entry fee, of course. Well, wouldn't you know it, the real thing puts in an appearance and starts slaughtering those in the house for real, as partygoers watch the live video feed imagining that it is all part of the act.
There's a little more to it, but I don't want to give too much away.
Now don't get me wrong dear reader, this is not a great film but, given that this is number eight in the series, I was expecting much worse.
The MacGuffin is reasonably effective and the script only barely awful. It also gets half a mark for the presence of the delicious Katee 'Starbuck' Sackhoff too.
Whilst the story of Michael is progressed in no way here, nor is it watered down, with some reasonably gruesome killings along the way.
Slasher-lite?
Well, perhaps, but still reasonably entertaining, all the same.
