Favourite line:"Joey, I'm not into dead guys!"

Virtual remake of the original.
Opting more for 'comedy' than true horror, this is a slightly silly, though at times very effective zombie-thon that occasionally crosses the line into 'wacky', with disastrous results (The Michael Jackson 'Thriller' spoof being the prime example).

Three kids discover a canister containing a dessicated cadaver, foolishly open it and unleash the deadly gas, developed by the military, that returns the dead back to life. Much 'I want your brains' fun ensues.

The main problem here is that at no time do you actually get a sense of dread or terror. You never believe for an instant that any of the main characters are going to perish. Additionally, the over-reliance on electricity to off the teeming hordes makes for a distinct lack of gore in the kills.
It has its moments though - the liquified zombie in the cave, the Anthrax backed feeding of the zombies from the back of the ambulance - but the good points are marginally outweighed by the bad.
Still, far from terrible, but not a patch on the original.
