Favourite line:"You have the sight now, Neo. You are looking at the world without time."

I really wanted this to be every bit as good as the original but unfortunately, it just isn't.
The Wachowski brothers insistence that this was always meant to be a trilogy ring particularly untrue here, where the first 30 minutes are as padded and contrived as any you will see in cinema - the excruciating dance sequence on Zion, and Morpheus' rallying speech being the two most extreme examples.
Alright, we get to meet the characters on Zion but, frankly, they are all as one dimensional as it is possible to be, so why do we care?
Once we leave Zion though, this film finds its feet, and some amazing stunt work just about gets it limping over the finishing line.
The car / bike chase sequence really has to be seen to be believed, so jaw droppingly astonishing is it, and there's some good fight sequences too.
The 'plot' itself is as baffling as ever.
It doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and, to camouflage the fact that they are making it up as they go along, the language used during the exposition is confusing and vague. Second part syndrome may also be a factor as without the mystery of the first or the climatic conclusion of the third it does suffer a little.
OK, I suppose.
