Favourite line:"When will we learn the lessons of potato?"

Offbeat, quirky British comedy that sees Brydon's Andy van Allen and Coogan's Nick Lee aboard a cruise ship brimful of their besotted fans.
Back in the day, van Allen and Lee were the main stars of children's sci-fi show Children of Castor, but life since the shows prime have been very different for both of them. van Allen is now a porter, not acting at all, whilst Lee is star of big budget American TV smash Sherlock Holmes... in Miami.
The film demonstrates how their relative experiences colour their impressions of the fans who still adore them.

A gentle lampoon of sci-fi fandom in general, with Children of Castor being a clear reimagining of The Tomorrow People, and the fans themselves surely representative of the worst Doctor Who fandom has to offer (You know who you are. Yes, you there, with the white carrier bag....)
The performances are uniformally solid, with James Corden's pathos dripping Russell being the prime example.
It gets a bit sentimental towards the end, which is a shame, as there are some genuine laugh out loud moments throughout, and David Walliams' demented and oddly creepy Jeff 'Lurky' Monks is a joy.
Not brilliant then, just solid Britcom.
