Favourite line:"The godfather was born Vito Andolini, in the town of Corleone in Sicily. In 1901 his father was murdered for an insult to the local Mafia chieftain. His older brother Paolo swore revenge and disappeared into the hills, leaving Vito, the only male heir, to stand with his mother at the funeral. He was nine years old."

More of the same really, and this is just as good if not better than the original.
Indeed, this is oft cited as the best sequel ever made, and it's easy to see why.

The family business is growing, and we get to see how Marlon Brando's Vito Corleone reached his position of dominance. At the same time, Michael Corleone, his son, is controlling the empire across America and beyond, even penetrating Communist Cuba.

The violence is unflinching, the performances seismic, and DeNiro's in this one too which is always a bonus.
Epic doesn’t even begin to cover it.
Simply unmissable.
