Clint is in fine form here, as ever in the genre that made his name.
This time around, he does actually have a name - Jed Cooper - a man who survived a hanging, and is out for vengeance.
Truthfully, if you are going to hang Clint, you'd better make sure you finish the job.... Well shot, and more thoughtful than many Westerns, with Eastwoods' character genuinely evolving as the movie progresses.
This is a fine Western.
