Favourite line:"Are you gonna pull those pistols or whistle Dixie?"

Clint Eastwood plays Josey Wales, a farmer trying to live a peaceful life at the end of the American Civil War.
His family are murdered by a band of rebels, and he vows to avenge their deaths.

Much as I love a nice bit of Clint, in particular his Spaghetti Western outings, this one feels way too commercial for my tastes. Eastwood could easily have been replaced by John Wayne and, frankly, that's never a compliment.
Plodding, by the numbers and, strangely, more dated than the 'Dollars' movies which were actually filmed some ten years before this one.
Disappointing.
