Pretty poor addition to the Star Trek oeuvre.

The plot:
The paradise planet of the native Ba'ku holds a secret that threatens to shatter their peaceful, harmonious way of life. Though apparently a simple people, they were once technologically advanced, but turned their back on technology, embracing instead tranquility and the magical properties of the planet they call home: immortality.
A Starfleet plot, in collusion with the sinister Son'a, plans to claim the precious gift from the natives.

Sounds reasonable enough, but it doesn't take long for the movie to get bogged down in it's own sense of worthiness, it's cautionary tale of technological jealousy and the corruption that goes hand in hand with power.
With main characters acting in peculiar ways, Picard falling in love, and a real lack of drive or focus, this is a limp, torpid affair that stumbles to the finishing post, boring all sentient lifeforms in its wake.
Dull as a radiator, this is one that can happily be skipped.
